Home » Games News » Blade & Soul: Rising Goddess Of NCsoft?

There are two things people never imagined any good MMO could embrace as themes, and then wrap a steaming hot game around: angels and demons. NCsoft effectively brought heaven and hell into the player's grasp with Aion.
Or more accurately, angels and fallen angels.
The plot varies across cultures, and many argue these are not your harp-plucking angels and certainly not your hoofed, horned and fire-breathing demons, but the feel of things in the game is very familiar to all of us. The public reaction to Aion was immense, and shocking to many, which brings me to my topic: NCsoft's newest star child, Blade & Soul. Can it outshine its predecessor, or go further even?
I remember when I first heard about Blade & Soul; I had received a text with a link at 3 a.m. from an old college buddy. Never one to sleep when there are other things to do, I opened my laptop and watched the trailer he sent me. When the NCsoft logo appeared, I remember raising an eyebrow. When the Team Bloodlust logo appeared, I raised the other eyebrow. Then I sat motionless through the entire video, and was frozen for a few moments even following its end before returning to bed in a haze.
It was only a few months later that I started to believe it wasn't a hoax. New MMOs, it seems, are sprouting up every other month, all with their own flashy way of trying to drag players into their crappy quests and sub-par graphics. But this one stood out from the word 'go' with the almost self-perpetuating hype it has maintained.
The same question everyone seems to share now is, "Will it live up to its growing hype?" In all fairness, all the developer did was release a couple of videos and people are already questioning if it will have the ability to rival Blizzard's sovereignty in the MMO world.
